Are Your Blog Posts U.N.I.Q.U.E

by DiAnn Mills @DiAnnMills

A savvy writer longs for a project that captures a reader’s attention. We want to stand out among the blog posts and articles that fill online sources. How does a writer choose a topic marked for success?

Try the following acrostic for unique to help you weave through the mass of ideas for the most informative and entertaining content.

U – Unusual

Unusual content offers an imaginative approach to a topic with practical application. Writers can examine what’s happening around them, a holiday, a national event, or a world occurrence that impacts many people.

An analogy can show how to spin helpful information. For example, my treadmill kept shocking me. No matter what I tried or how many trips the serviceman made to fix it, the static electricity still took me by surprise – just like copyedits that are painful and unexpected when we thought we’d delivered our best. Both require adjustments.

N – Need

Purposeful content fills a need or purpose and is written in easy to understand language. A reader is inclined to delete a post that doesn’t point out a problem, offer solutions, and provide means to solve the issue.

I – Intriguing

Writers focus their content on ways to interest their readers about a particular topic. Developing information that attracts an audience to better develop their skills, careers, relationships, communication, and other areas of their lives. A blog post that inspires readers to think beyond the printed word is a positive for all concerned.

Q – Quality

Quality content utilizes the writer’s research and knowledge. The Internet is bursting with ho-hum posts. Too many reflect a writer’s lack of understanding of the publishing industry or don’t meet reader expectations. Commit to posting quality information for the betterment of our audience.

U – Uplifting

Content may not always make the reader happy, but it must be uplifting. Condescending phrasing has no place in the blog and article world. Encouraging our audience is a noble venture. Our goal is to help our readers attain more than they ever dreamed. Challenge them to reach for their goals.

E – Empower

Writers strive to give authority and power to the reader by delivering superior content. We want our audience to finish reading our posts with tools to address the issues in their lives.

Let’s commit to the importance of creating unique writing projects. What is one way you can contribute?
