Writer, Are You Against the Red Sea

By Cherrilynn Bisbano @bisbanowrites

I did not know what to write this month. Oh, I started three blog posts. They are tucked away in my BRMCWC Works in Progress folder. I almost hit send on a blog about stress. God stopped me. He wants me to ask you the same question he asked me as I walked the beach listening to Henry Blackaby’s Experiencing God and praying for God’s guidance.

Are you up against the Red Sea and can’t go back?

As I pondered this question I read the passage in Exodus 14:13-14 (ESV) “And Moses said to the people, “Fear not, stand firm, and see the salvation of the Lord, which he will work for you today. The LORD will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.”

I’m a word person. I researched the words for stand and silent. I used Blueletterbible.com. I’m not a Hebrew scholar, but this Bible tool helps me understand.

Stand:  yāṣaḇ in Hebrew means to station oneself, take one’s stand, stand, present oneself, stand with someone.

Silent: ḥāraš in Hebrew means hold peace, plow(-er, man), be quiet, rest, practice secretly, keep silence, be silent, speak not a word, be still, hold tongue. It also means to cut in, plough, engrave, devise.

Moses told the Israelites to stop complaining, hold your peace, and stand firm. They wanted to go back to Egypt at the first sign of trouble. God placed a pillar of fire and the Egyptian army behind them so they couldn’t return.

I know I’ve complained when God wasn’t answering my prayers or delivering me as quickly as I desired. I whined and desired to return to my bondage.

The Israelites crossed the Sea on dry ground. The same God will keep our feet dry too!

What Red Sea do you face? Publication? Editing? A personal or spiritual battle only God knows about?

Will you join me and face our Red Sea and wait for the deliverance of the Lord.

Thank you for this insightful and interesting post. I’m at a place of standing and waiting. And am working on the not grumbling or worrying part. Lol
