The Writer’s Version of Psalm 100

By DiAnn Mills @DiAnnMills

Many of us memorized Psalm 100 as children. But have we considered what these beautiful words mean to the writer?

Psalm 100 ESV

 Make a joyful noise to the Lord, all the earth!
    Serve the Lord with gladness!
Come into his presence with singing!

Know that the Lord, he is God!
It is he who made us, and we are his;[a]
we are his people, and the sheep of his pasture.

Enter his gates with thanksgiving,
and his courts with praise!
Give thanks to him; bless his name!

For the Lord is good;
his steadfast love endures forever,
and his faithfulness to all generations.

Here is my prayer for you based on Psalm 100.

Writers, write a joyful word to the Lord!

Serve the Lord with gladness for our sacred calling!

Come into His presence with glad hearts!

Know that the Lord, He is God!

It is He who made us and called us to His purpose,

We are His people, and the scribes to share the Gospel.

Enter His writing with thanksgiving, even the rejections,

And His purpose with praise!

Give thanks to Him; bless his name!

For the Lord is good;

His steadfast love for mankind endures forever,

And His faithfulness to help us through every storm to all generations.

Have you ever written a psalm to thank God for His love, grace, mercy, and our calling to write?
