Race to Your Writing Future

Charlotte, NC – NASCAR officials confirmed today that Team EdieMills will begin driving car #BRMCWC in next week’s race. The team, made of authors Edie Melson and Diane Mills, is the first to replace car numbers with hashtags. Steve Phelps, President of NASCAR says, “This dynamic female duo is set to amaze racing fans nationwide. They represent the growing number of hardcore stock car enthusiasts coming out of the closet from the Christian writers community.”

OK, there you have it. That’s my attempt at fantasy fiction. It’s kind of fun to imagine what the world might be like if these two amazing writers were behind the wheel burning up the track together.

However, more grounded in reality but certainly promising even greater excitement for the future, they both are looking to God to deliver continual innovation and growth to 2020’s BRMCWC.

One session I presented at this year’s conference titled, There’s More In The Morph, was designed to help you, Christian writers, embrace an important career component – CHANGE.  For those of you who purchased the audio recordings of the sessions I encourage you to listen to it.

In it I begin with what I believe is an absolutely paramount perspective we must understand and embrace: God is the author of evolution. I know — “evolution” at first thought may not seem to be consistent with our Christian worldview. It is. The Bible says that God’s steadfast love never ceases. His mercies never come to an end but instead are new everyday. As I share with authors and other Christian entrepreneurs we need to adjust our perspective of our relationship with God. We need to quit saying, “I’m waiting for God to show me what’s next”. Instead, God is way out ahead of us beaconing, “Come with me, catch up to where I am, I have so much for you if you’ll quit being stuck where you are.”

It really is exciting to know that God has so much in store for us as we simply open our heart’s eyes and yield our self will to His perfect leading.

Two authors this month appear in Faith & Fitness Magazinehaving embraced the notion that there is more in the morph for them. During BRMCWC 2019 I recorded a podcast, shot photos and video and scheduled features with Susan Neal (Goodbye Sugar/ Christian Study Guide for 7 Step to Get Off Sugar and Carbohydrates) and Ginger Harrington (7 Ways To Pair Friendship And Fitness/Holy in the Moment).

For Susan, it was her second article in my magazine but her first time to record a podcast interview and shoot a scripted short video of this kind. Neither are “writing”. However she had a blast and did a great job. AND – she evolved a bit to discover even more than she already knew that she is her own best voice for sharing the passion God has put in her heart.  It’s natural to do and in hindsight you’ll see that to be true. We can often be a bit shy to go for it. But, go for it you must. God wants to take you further than you can imagine and writing is just the beginning!

For Ginger, our conversation at my BRMCWC table during lunch got her realizing that her marvelous book in fact was spot on target for the fitness minded reader. This helped her to morph existing content and passion into new opportunities. We’ll soon be recording a podcast with her and updating it to her article in my magazine. AND – we’re already envisioning a weekend wellness retreat. The book theme IS the incredible ministry that God already is envisioning for the future.

That is the whole purpose of this post. The Psalm guides us, “As the deer pants for the water, so my soul thirsts for you God.” Buckle up, feel the adrenaline, put on your helmet and then race to your future.

Bloom draws a distinct difference between secular and his faith-centered brands, “Life should be lived way beyond training harder, living adventurously and going further. That’s all good but God is great. We can be equipped to be great when we get beyond all the doing and actively Be Life – the life of Christ to others.”

      Cherilynn,

Yes, it’s great to have both of them appear at the same time. I look forward to having more BRMCWC authors discover new opportunities to morph their writing with Faith & Fitness Magazine.

  2. Jimmie says:

I love NASCAR as a metaphor for the introduction.

    • Brad Bloom says:

Thanks Jimmie. I thought it was fun especially imagining what it would be like to see DiAnn and Eddie driving a car high speed around a racetrack.

Hope you’re morphing into some new writing opportunities this summer. It’s exciting to watch and see where God leads us.
