Eternal

By DiAnn Mills @diannmills

Welcome to week nine in Faith Friday of our Adventure with God. This is the final week of our focus on the acrostic ADVENTURE. The last letter E stands for eternal. Everything we do has an eternal impact on us and others.

Thankfully Jesus died for our sins so that by accepting His sacrifice on the cross, we are seen through the eyes of God as washed clean. Those who choose to live their lives per selfish desires and greed will live forever without the peace and joy of knowing God in a deep loving relationship.

Once we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior, we are eager to follow Him in obedience. We want our words, actions, and behavior to glorify Him.

As writers, our creativity is about our Lord. He gave us the gift of writing, and we in turn give the gift back to Him. God gave us eternal priorities, which means He comes first, then our spouse, family, and friends. Our writing comes after that, which means we need balance in our lives to maintain an eternal perspective.

“But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.” James 1:22 ESV

“14 But if you have bitter jealousy and selfish ambition in your hearts, do not boast and be false to the truth. 15 This is not the wisdom that comes down from above, but is earthly, unspiritual, demonic. 16 For where jealousy and selfish ambition exist, there will be disorder and every vile practice. 17 But the wisdom from above is first pure, then peaceable, gentle, open to reason, full of mercy and good fruits, impartial and sincere. 18 And a harvest of righteousness is sown in peace by those who make peace.” James 3:14-18 ESV

Oh, the power of showing Jesus to others so they can experience a glimpse of heaven. We have the gift of communicating through the written word to reach more people than we will ever meet.

Prayer – Heavenly Father, I look to the heavens and long for You to ride across the sky and to usher in Your rule. Until then, I am blessed with the hope of eternal life with You. Amen

Reflection – The only One who needs to know what we’re doing in service for others is God. His reward and love is worth far more than any earthly recognition.

“He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” Philippians 1:6 ESV

You are on an ADVENTURE with God. Where will it take you?
