Social Media, Marketing, and Branding

By DiAnn Mills @DiAnnMills

Social media is about helping our readers walk through life a little easier. Those we help come in all shapes and sizes and occupations, but what is important is that our message is clear and fulfills and need. Writers are problem solvers.

Many blogs and webinars show us how to find our unique readers, and for those of you who are struggling with the process, I recommend Googling “How to Find My Readers.” Blogs and webinars will assist you in ensuring you are targeting the right audience.

Once you’ve established those unique readers, the question arises as to how can a writer reach out with valuable information? I suggest

Man was created by God with three innate needs, and He was fully able to meet them. Those are:

Significance
Security
Relationships

After the fall, those needs are still there and God is able to meet them, but unfortunately we often use other means of obtaining satisfaction. Our goal is always to show readers ways that will help satisfy their longings. We want to provide solutions that are God-honoring, encouraging them to develop to their potential. That’s why we write from a Christian worldview.

In 1943, Abraham Maslow offered the idea of a hierarchy of needs. These psychological requirements parallel the ones given by God.

When you are writing your blogs and social media posts, consider your reader’s traits and ask how you, with your brand, can offer valuable assistance.

Let’s share ideas. How do you have to connect with your readers?
