We Have an App for The Blue Ridge Mountains Christian Writers Conference – and IT’S LIVE!

We have an App for That and IT’S LIVE!

As I promised, I’m going give you a tour. And yes, we have an app for that! Today I’m going to give you a tour of the Blue Ridge Conference app to whet your appetite.

NOTE: Although the app is live, it’s currently being updated from last year’s schedule to this year’s information. The reason we posted this today was so everyone could get comfortable using it. Take time now to play with it and practice using the different aspects.

Get the App

First, you have to download the app to your mobile device. It’s compatible with Android or Apple, as well as most tablets. Just search for Ridgecrest Events and download it for free.

The main page of the app is intuitive and user-friendly, but I’ll go through the different parts of it.

Guided Tour of the App

Agenda: This is the conference schedule.

My Schedule: This is a place for you to personalize your own plans for the week.

Breakouts: more in-depth information about specific classes, including the teacher, location and time.

Speakers: This is where you’ll find the faculty bios and list of the classes they’re teaching.

Updates: This is a place for the leadership of the conference to share updates during the event.

Resources: This is for additional things that might help during the conference.

Campus Info: Information about the Ridgecrest campus.

Maps: There are maps of each building, as well as the campus in general.

Area Info: Just in case you want to do any sight-seeing.

The app is still being updated for this year’s event, so be patient with us as we finish the final touches. But now is the time to get familiar with it and begin playing with it.

I’m excited about having everything I need to stay on track with my schedule at my fingertips—without worrying about losing a booklet. I’d love to know your thoughts. Be sure to share them in the comments section below.

I used the app last year and loved it. However, when I downloaded it this morning, all of the schedule info and speakers bios are from 2016. Then I noticed the the screen shot graphic in this blog is from 2016. What am I missing?

Deb, although the app is live, it’s currently being updated from last year’s schedule to this year’s information. The reason we posted this today was so everyone could get comfortable using it. Take time now to play with it and practice using the different aspects. I accidentally used the wrong screenshot (the one from last year) instead of the current one. I’ve updated it. Sorry for the confusion.

Great! Thank you. I hope to use this to its full advantage. Question. I am taking the Fiction practicum with Eva Everson. She has changed the timeframe of her class to go from 10:00-11:45. Is there a way for me (and other class members) to change this on the app?
    Thank you

  3. This will be a wonderful addition, once I figure out what I’m doing wrong. LOL! I downloaded the app and it fills the screen with the Ridgecrest logo but I have no buttons to open it or anything. I see nothing that tells me its loading not that it should take 30 minutes to load. What am I doing wrong, Edie? As I told Lynn Blackburn whose Scrivener class I’m taking, God bless all of you who are patient enough to teach a bunch of writers anything techy! LOL!

  4. I got it Edie! It finally uploaded the options page so I’m good to go! Now for Lynn’s Scrivener class….
